Description

METALLIC LEAD SHEET for weighting Rivarossi Passenger Cars (or other [ HO ] rolling stock).
Two sheets in each package.
The sheets are 1 1/8

by 11 3/4
inches long (

12 inches), and are slightly less than 1/16

inch thick.
Each lead sheet weighs ≈3.6 ounces (full length).

The long edges of the sheet have a small ‘burr’ from slitting.
Using a thin sheet of lead inside a passenger car will add much needed weight (NMRA RP20.1) and facilitate the installation of interior details without interfering with those details.
The lead sheet is soft and easily cut with regular scissors, wire cutters or hand-held single hole-punch.
For my Rivarossi cars, I cut the length of the sheet from bolster to bolster.  The full length of the car is too heavy.
Trim the sheet to length and to clear any interior obstructions such as side-wall ribs and holes for screws (that is where the hand-held hole-punch comes into play).
After you are satisfied with the weight and fit, glue the sheet inside the chassis floor with a liquid adhesive such as automotive weather stripping, Duco Cement, Goo or similar permanent adhesive for support and to prevent rattling.
(Lead sheets bend easily, and are not capable of ‘self-support’.)

This is actually metallic lead.

Lead paint was removed from the marketplace because of
the
opportunity for children to chew on it.
Lead oxide was used as a white pigment.
Clean your cutters after use to prevent cross-contamination to other surfaces.

The LSW100 is one inch wide for use in Athearn and other manufacturer rolling stock.
