Description
This is a rare and fantastic old Drummond Tobacco Co. Chrome & Cast Iron Advertising Tobacco Cutter. Its dated 1871 & 1875. This beauty was given to Country & General Stores in the late 1800's to advertise their tobacco brand and was used to cut a plug of tobacco. Sold by the inch. The Drummond Tobacco Co. was in St. Louis Mo. & was the largest Tobacco producing city in the United States during the late 1800's. This tobacco cutter was made by the Enterprise Manufacturing Co. Philadelphia. This cast iron cutter and embellished with Nickel Plated accents to make it a real showpiece in those old Country Stores that were lucky enough to get this model. It measures 18 3/4" long 5" depth & 7" high when closed and 20 1/2" open. Blade is 4 1/2". It has Great patina with much of the red stripe intact and a large amount of the nickle plate parts still shiny and beautiful. Little to No rusting or pitting. Blade is sharp. All the mechanical parts are in good working order. There are very few of these Chrome or Nickle plated cutters out there and when found, none are in the fantastic original condition of this one.Please check out my item condition description and check out my photos so that you will know exactly what you are buying.
